Notably, Sullivan said U.S. officials now expect that Israel wouldn't invade Rafah until that conversation takes place. The meeting will be an opportunity for the U.S. "to lay out an alternative approach that would target key Hamas elements in Rafah and secure the Egypt-Gaza border without a major ground invasion," he added. Today, President Biden will announce new actions to protect Americans and help communities and hospitals battle Omicron, building on the robust plan he announced earlier this month to get people maximum protection ahead of the winter and prepare for rising cases driven by the new variant. Biden cautioned Thursday that the country was in a "tough stretch" of the pandemic that could "last for a while" due to the delta variant and the large number of unvaccinated people who he said "can cause a lot of damage." The administration, which shied away from mandates early in the summer, is now embracing them, as what Biden once billed as the “summer of freedom” ends with thousands of unvaccinated Americans dying from Covid-19 every week. Much of Biden’s wider agenda and political standing is seen as dependent on his ability to address the pandemic, with his approval numbers falling as new infections rise.
Young Americans know that the climate crisis is the existential threat of our time.
But public health officials have warned that could be a short-lived break, following Labor Day weekend gatherings and millions of kids going back to school this week. But at the same time, Americans followed through on Biden’s prediction of a return to celebrations and gatherings, something that now has public health officials fearing a new wave of infections following Labor Day weekend travel and get-togethers. Zelenskyy said he hopes to ensure Ukraine continues to combat Russia from a position of strength as it enters the second year of the war, and urged Congress to approve the $45 billion assistance to his country included in the $1.7 trillion omnibus package. The president said that he has spent an extensive amount of time speaking with European leaders to urge them to continue their support for Ukraine, but said they do not want to go to war with Russia. Shortly before Zelenskyy arrived, the State Department unveiled a new military aid package for Ukraine worth $1.85 billion, bringing the total military aid sent to Ukraine to $22 billion. In a first, the U.S. is sending the Ukrainians a Patriot missile battery, a sophisticated air defense system that can repel Russian missiles and aircraft.

"The toll exacted on us for merely fulfilling our journalistic duties is staggering," the letter stated. See Billy Porter in a black sequin caftan over a classic white shirt; Questlove, in an artistically paint-splattered jacket; and Fran Drescher, the SAG-AFTRA president, in a white brocade pantsuit. Biden, like most of his predecessors, used the glitzy annual White House Correspondents’ Assn. banquet to jab at his rival, Donald Trump. Ralliers cried “Free, free Palestine.” They cheered when at one point someone inside the Washington Hilton — where the dinner has been held for decades — unfurled a Palestinian flag from a top-floor hotel window. Democratic infighting in the 2024 primary, when Salas faced competition from fellow Democrat Melissa Hurtado, cost the party establishment millions to consolidate support behind Salas. Once a safely ruby-red Republican domain, California’s 22nd Congressional District is in a part of the San Joaquin Valley that has grown increasingly purple in recent years, with Democrats now holding the registration advantage. “Right now, the single most vulnerable Republican incumbent is John Duarte, in my view,” Wasserman said of the California races. Two years ago, this was the second-closest House race in the nation, with Duarte winning by just 564 votes.

Aid for Ukraine has been a source of tension and uncertainty as several Republicans in the House have severe doubts or openly oppose additional funding to sustain the Ukrainian military. “I’m going to be announcing very shortly a major speech I’m going to make on this issue and why it’s critically important for the United States and our allies that we keep our commitment” to Ukraine, Biden told reporters after giving unrelated remarks at the White House. “I told him that Israel demonstrated a remarkable capacity to defend against and defeat even unprecedented attacks — sending a clear message to its foes that they cannot effectively threaten the security of Israel,” Biden said in his statement after the call. The push to encourage Israel to show restraint mirrored ongoing American efforts to curtail Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza, which is now in its seventh month, and to do more to protect civilian lives in the territory. The U.S. assisted Israel in shooting down dozens of drones and missiles fired by Iran on Saturday in what was the first time it had launched a direct military assault on Israel. Israeli authorities said 99 percent of the inbound weapons were shot down without causing any significant damage.
"That is our life, we are in war. I'm sorry. I'm really sorry," Zelenskyy said in English. Zelenskyy noted that he and the president are in frequent communication, and joked about eventually asking him to send more Patriot missile systems to protect Ukrainian skies. However, that figure is small compared to the $61 billion that Biden had asked Congress to approve to help Kyiv combat a Russian invasion that began in February 2022. Republicans had refused to approve assistance for Ukraine without Democrats agreeing to a significant toughening of immigration law. The bill, one of the few major pieces of legislation Congress passes every year, governs everything from pay raises for service members and purchases of ships and aircraft to policies such as support for foreign partners like Taiwan. Even though McConnell championed the bipartisan bill, it was blocked by a Republican filibuster, as only four GOP senators voted to advance it in February, with the rest arguing that it fell short.
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders says she "can't predict the future" when it comes to the fate of Trump's national security adviser H.R. McMaster — but said she's "not aware" that he'll leave the administration any time soon. The president said the resistance does “worry” him, but he noted that there is broad bipartisan support.
Biden officials indefinitely postpone ban on menthol cigarettes amid election-year pushback
The president made a sober speech about what he believes is at stake this election, saying that another Trump administration would be even more harmful to America than his first. “We have to take this serious — eight years ago we could have written it off as ‘Trump talk,’ but not after Jan. 6,” Biden told the audience, referring to a mob that stormed the Capitol in 2021 after Trump encouraged supporters to stop the certification of Biden’s election win. With hundreds of protesters rallying outside and concerns over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the perils for journalists covering the conflict, the war hung over this year’s event. But speakers inside made only passing mention of it despite the gantlet of demonstrators. Biden’s speech, which lasted about 10 minutes, made no mention of the war or the growing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. As he embarks on his first full work week as president, Biden is poised to continue scrapping a number of the Trump administration’s policies, including the controversial transgender military ban.
One of the few mentions came from Kelly O’Donnell, president of the correspondents’ association, who noted the deaths of journalists covering the war. NBC News correspondent Kelly O’Donnell, president of the correspondents’ association, opened the event by reminding the audience of the important work that journalists do but noting that the dinner is happening at “a complex moment for our nation” and in an election year. As President Biden held a news conference to tout his administration's achievements during his first year in office, Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin criticized his party over their push to end the filibuster in order to advance legislation on voting rights. Lawmakers have allocated more than $65 billion in total aid, which includes financial and humanitarian assistance, to Ukraine since the invasion, though some House Republicans have expressed opposition to continuing direct funding to the country. Kelly O’Donnell, president of the correspondents’ association, opened the event by reminding the audience of the important work that journalists do but noting that the dinner is happening at “a complex moment for our nation,” and in a decisive election year.
Issues regarding water — including water access for agriculture, as well as water quality and water availability in wells — will also be crucial, along with healthcare access issues, said Thomas Holyoke, a professor of political science at Fresno State University. To get inside Saturday's dinner, some guests had to hurry through hundreds of protesters outraged over the mounting humanitarian disaster for Palestinian civilians in Gaza. They condemned Biden for his support of Israel's military campaign and Western news outlets for what they said was undercoverage and misrepresentation of the conflict. Biden’s speech, which lasted about 10 minutes, made no mention of the ongoing war or the growing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Those six most competitive races are also all being targeted by both the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the National Republican Congressional Committee, with establishment party backing likely to bring even more attention and funding into the districts. Democrats underperformed in both states in 2022, in part because their in-state political dominance helped Republicans channel voter frustration into anger toward Democrats, Wasserman explained. "Since the Israel-Gaza war began, journalists have been paying the highest price- their lives-to defend our right to the truth. Each time a journalist dies or is injured, we lose a fragment of that truth," CPJ Program Director Carlos Martínez de la Serna said in a statement. One organizer complained that the White House Correspondents' Association - which represents the hundreds of journalists who cover the president - largely has been silent since the first weeks of the war about the killings of Palestinian journalists. Criticism of the Biden administration's support for Israel's six-month-old military offensive in Gaza has spread through American college campuses, with students pitching encampments in an effort to force their universities to divest from Israel.
"We should be clear about what Russia is doing — it is purposefully attacking Ukraine's critical infrastructure, destroying the systems that provide heat and light to the Ukrainian people during the coldest, darkest part of the year. Russia is using winter as a weapon," the president said. Mr. Biden told the Ukrainian people they have stood strong in the face of autocrats, adding that Americans from "every walk of life" have provided "unequivocal" and "unbending" support for the people of Ukraine. Mr. Biden opened up the joint press conference with Zelenskyy by noting the two have been in close communication throughout this conflict, and said it's particularly meaningful to "look each other in the eye" in person for the first time since Russia launched its assault on Ukraine. Zeleskyy reiterated his characterization of Russia as a "terrorist country" and the need for Russia to be held accountable for its aggression against innocent Ukrainian people. "For me as a president, just peace is no compromise as to the sovereignty, freedom and territorial integrity of my country," Zelenskyy said. Additionally, Mr. Biden said they would "love" for Ukraine not to have to use the Patriot missile defense system the U.S. is giving the country.
"We would look to build on that cease-fire into something more enduring and use the space created by a cessation of hostilities to surge humanitarian assistance at a vital moment," Sullivan said. "Our position is that Hamas should not be allowed a safe haven in Rafah or anywhere else, but a major ground operation there would be a mistake," national security adviser Jake Sullivan said at the White House briefing where he outlined the leaders' conversation. Health officials are also warning of a winter surge that could coincide with particularly severe flu seasons with kids back in school, people congregating more than last winter, and mask requirements gone in most of the country. As of July, 27 percent of the country's health care workers were unvaccinated, according to a study by the Covid States Project.

Most times, UX designers make use of standardized conventions (like a toggle switch for on/off states, dropdown list for multiple options, etc.) because users have come to expect these interactions on a website. Graphic designers—especially if you’ve created prototypes in the past—are also familiar with such conventions. That means you’ll adapt more quickly to a UX design role than someone who comes from a non-design background. This might not sound like much, but communication is the core of any UX design project and being able to talk-the-talk is a big benefit. Administration officials said the call demonstrated that despite differences over the war in Gaza, the U.S. commitment to Israel’s defense was “ironclad” and that the U.S. would mount a similar effort again if needed. At one point, at least 100 ballistic missiles from Iran were in the air simultaneously with just minutes of flight time to Israel, the officials said.
WATCH: Biden ‘confident’ Ukraine aid would be approved, White House says
Democrats held a five-percentage-point registration advantage as of late February and Biden won the plurality-Asian district in 2020, but despite the registration advantage, Republicans turned out in higher numbers than Democrats in the 2022 midterms. Kelly O'Donnell, president of the correspondents' association, opened the event by reminding the audience of the important work that journalists do but noting that the dinner is happening at "a complex moment for our nation," and in a decisive election year. After Biden spoke, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during the Wednesday news briefing that Biden was “confident” Ukraine aid would be approved because there is broad bipartisan support.
Statement of President Joe Biden on the Passing of U.S. Congressman Donald Payne Jr.
For his part, President Biden urged journalists to keep in mind their role in preserving a functioning democracy, suggesting reporters steer away from horse-race campaign stories and “gotcha” moments in favor of the likely effects the next election will have on American life and policy. He also vowed to continue to work to free journalists like Evan Gershkovich and Austin Tice who have been imprisoned unjustly abroad. Jost finished his remarks by telling President Joe Biden about his 95-year-old grandfather, a longtime fireman in Staten Island, N.Y, who voted Democrat in the 2020 presidential election even though that borough of New York City is known to favor Republicans.

"I hope that Donald Trump's friendship with Putin is not motivating House Republicans to turn a blind eye to Ukraine's suffering and desperate need for help," Schumer said. "Because the so-called friendship between Putin and Trump was a sour relationship that was deeply damaging to our country and to the international order." "My father, Congressman Thomas D'Alesandro, Jr., was a Member of the House in 1941 when Winston Churchill came to the Congress on the day after Christmas to enlist our nation's support in the fight against tyranny in Europe," she wrote. "Eighty-one years later this week, it is particularly poignant for me to be present when another heroic leader addresses the Congress in a time of war — and with Democracy itself on the line." The State Department said the new U.S. aid package would total $1.85 billion, comprising $1 billion in new funding approved by the White House and $850 million from the Defense Department. Ahead of the confirmation vote, Schumer highlighted the Senate's timing for approving Tracey as ambassador before Zelenskyy's speech and said it underscores U.S. support for Ukraine.
Biden "not at all worried" about strength of alliance against Russia
"We are subjected to detentions, interrogations, and torture by the Israeli military, all for the 'crime' of journalistic integrity." Biden's speech before an expected crowd of nearly 3,000 people was being followed by entertainer Colin Jost from "Saturday Night Live." Ralliers cried "Free, free Palestine." They cheered when at one point someone inside the Washington Hilton - where the dinner has been held for decades - unfurled a Palestinian flag from a top-floor hotel window.
The U.S. passed the milestone this week of having 75 percent of adults at least practically vaccinated. The biggest gains have been among young adults and teens, which White House officials have attributed to vaccine mandates by colleges and employers along with increased fears from the delta variant. Biden’s Covid reset comes as the rapidly spreading delta variant threatens to stall the country’s economic rebound and derail efforts to return students to the classroom. Just weeks into the return to school tens of thousands of students and staff have had to isolate themselves following school outbreaks, and the administration attributed August’s disappointing jobs numbers to the variant as consumer confidence falls.
At the same time, Biden was asked about voting rights, specifically about Utah Republican Sen. Mitt Romney's recent remarks, attacking the White House for keeping Republicans out of discussions over election reform. During his news conference marking one year in office, Biden suggested a "minor incursion" by Russia would elicit a lesser response than a full-scale invasion of the country. Last week, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., the highest-ranking Jewish U.S. official, said in a speech on the Senate floor that Netanyahu has “lost his way” and called for new elections to replace him and his far-right governing coalition. During the call, Biden asked Netanyahu to send to Washington “a senior interagency team composed of military, intelligence and humanitarian officials” in the coming days to hear U.S. concerns about an invasion of Rafah, Sullivan said.

The order also requested the Department of Labor to develop recommendations that all federal government employees receive a minimum wage of $15 an hour. Biden’s order requested the Treasury Department to consider taking “a series of actions to expand and improve delivery" of direct stimulus payments, including the creation of online tools for recipients to claim their checks. Biden’s order directed the Department of Labor to revise and issue new guidance for employers to promote the health and safety of their workers, such as mask-wearing in the workplace. In an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19 through travel, Biden mandated mask-wearing on all forms of public transportation, including in airports, airplanes and buses. Biden reaffirmed DACA, an Obama-era program that Trump had long sought to dismantle that shielded undocumented immigrants who arrived in the U.S. as children from deportation.

Ukraine shocked at Biden "green light to Putin" incursion
“Since the Israel-Gaza war began, journalists have been paying the highest price— their lives—to defend our right to the truth. Each time a journalist dies or is injured, we lose a fragment of that truth,” CPJ Program Director Carlos Martínez de la Serna said in a statement. According to a preliminary investigation released Friday by the Committee to Protect Journalists, nearly 100 journalists have been killed covering the war in Gaza. One organizer complained that the White House Correspondents’ Association — which represents the hundreds of journalists who cover the president — largely has been silent since the first weeks of the war about the killings of Palestinian journalists. More than two dozen journalists in Gaza wrote a letter last week calling on their colleagues in Washington to boycott the dinner altogether. Criticism of the Biden administration’s support for Israel’s six-month-old military offensive in Gaza has spread through American college campuses, with students pitching encampments in an effort to force their universities to divest from Israel.
Trump’s campaign isn’t premised on winning a majority, something a Republican has managed only once in the past eight presidential elections, (George W. Bush in 2004). Democrats have also zeroed in on Kennedy’s equivocal statements on abortion, including one in August in which he said he would sign a national ban on abortions after 15 weeks. In an interview last month with Reuters, for example, Kennedy strongly supported Israel and expressed skepticism about a cease-fire in Gaza. Every previous cease-fire “has been used by Hamas to rearm, to rebuild and then launch another surprise attack. Recent polls have shown Kennedy getting more support from the Republican camp, which could be “a function of our getting the word out about him,” Smith said. That has included a public endorsement of Biden earlier this month by 15 members of the Kennedy family.
Democrats have a narrow registration advantage, although no party preference registrants account for nearly a quarter of voters. Biden won the district by more than 10 percentage points over Trump in 2020, according to data from California Target Book. Five of the six seats are currently held by Republicans, with four of those five in congressional districts that President Biden won in the 2020 election. Protest organizers said they wanted to bring attention to the high numbers of Palestinian and other Arab journalists killed by Israel's military since the war began in October. With hundreds of protesters rallying against the war in Gaza outside the event and concerns over the conflict and humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the perils for journalists covering the conflict, the war hung over this year's event.
Our vaccines are the most powerful tools we have—they work to protect people from serious illness and death, and boosters provide people optimal protection. While cases among vaccinated individuals will likely increase due to the more transmissible Omicron, evidence to date is that their cases will most likely be mild. In contrast, unvaccinated individuals are at high risk of getting COVID-19, getting severely ill, and even dying. Today’s actions will mitigate the impact unvaccinated individuals have on our health care system, while increasing access to free testing and getting more shots in arms to keep people safe and our schools and economy open. The U.S. has also started to see a downturn in the number of new cases and deaths over the past week.
The Ukrainian official added he’d never heard any nuance like this from the US administration before. Biden went on to say that he hasn't left Washington enough in the last few months to promote his agenda to the American people. President Biden said Wednesday that he was unsure that the child tax credit could pass in a scaled-back version of his Build Back Better agenda, a key provision Democrats have sought to extend that lacks support from moderate Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin. President Biden said one thing that has been made clear to him is the different role he now plays as President, opposed to his decades of service in the US Senate. The President said he thinks his report card going into the midterms is "pretty good," and is confident his administration will be able to sign into law "good chunks" of his agenda.
Psaki continued by noting that the president "knows from long experience that the Russians have an extensive playbook of aggression short of military action, including cyberattacks and paramilitary tactics." Biden highlighted his administration's accomplishments as well as the challenges that lie ahead as many priorities in his agenda remain stalled, including the Build Back Better Act and voting rights legislation. Biden’s relationship with Netanyahu has been on shaky ground for months as he faces pressure from the progressive wing of the Democratic Party over U.S. support for Israel as tens of thousands of Palestinians have died in Gaza.
Welcome to LaHomes.com, your one-stop source for Los Angeles, CA real estate. However, the Bergstroms’ home in Wisconsin still hasn’t sold. They are hopeful that as the weather warms up — and perhaps interest rates go down — the market will improve. When Alan Bergstrom’s financial industry support company went fully remote during the pandemic, he and his wife, Rebecca, started thinking about relocating from Wisconsin to a warmer climate and smaller home. The rural town about two hours north of New York City would allow them — with proper permits — to buy a house to rent out on a short-term basis. The Rutters, who wanted to know how those laws would apply to their new home, found some of them limiting.

The inspection wasn’t perfect, but the seller was committed to making the necessary repairs because the house had been on the market for more than a year. She found similar issues with her next accepted offer, on a duplex. Inspection revealed it had been built too close to the house next door. Stephanie Yaa Annor, 34, started looking for a multifamily home — where she could live while making rental income — in January 2023. She was thrilled when her offer on a remodeled home, with a separate back unit, was accepted the next month. Initially, she said, she would have been “so scared” to do a big remodel project like this.

Still, resolute buyers are managing to make the big purchase. Nine households across the United States that bought real estate in the past year told The Washington Post how they navigated the buying process during tumultuous times — and what advice they have for others. Robertson realized she had an advantage because she qualified for a loan partially guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs, allowing her to skip the down payment. She figured out that she could use the loan to buy a multifamily property and live in it, while renting out the other units.
Last year, just over 4 million existing homes sold in the United States — the lowest number in nearly three decades, according to the National Association of Realtors. In the novel, Navidson is the name given to the family who own the house.

One town allowed only 12 permits for short-term rentals each year. Another had put permitting on pause as it figured out how to navigate the growing industry. When searching to buy a short-term rental property north of New York City, Karl and Owen Rutter realized they had to become experts in the municipal laws of New York’s Hudson Valley region. She was the first to make an offer, and Dan loved the house when he saw it that night. So when Jasmin Deitrick saw a two-bedroom home in their budget with a large fenced yard in good condition, she raced to put in an offer — even though Dan hadn’t even seen the home. The seemingly perfect house needed to be rewired, the water heater needed to be moved, the siding was collecting moisture, and it had foundation issues.

This largely featureless gray house is suspended in the middle of a dark liminal apartment complex, and going through certain doorways will change the size of the areas between regular-sized, and large. In the end, their home’s total construction project will cost more than $250,000 — the largest chunk of their $400,000 budget. But when it’s done, the family is looking forward to moving into a customized home. “We couldn’t even afford to stay in our hometown,” Sarah Shervin said. The cheapest place they saw in Jackson was an $800,000 two-bedroom condo, and that was out of their budget.

For years, Jennifer Morris and Joel Cuevas, both 39, had been dutifully tracking their spending. But they had no idea what kind of mortgage they could afford, and a bank offered little advice. Just 7 percent of recent home buyers are Black, compared with 81 percent who are White, according to a National Association of Realtors survey released last year.
When the officer went in to corroborate the story, he noticed Polaroid photographs of dismembered bodies lying around. Dahmer was subdued by the officers, after which he muttered the words, “For what I did, I should be dead,” according to Masters. Two Milwaukee police officers were led to Dahmer when they picked up Tracy Edwards, a 32-year-old Black man who was wandering the streets with handcuffs dangling from his wrist. They decided to investigate the man’s claims that a “weird dude” had drugged and restrained him.

Chris Butler’s most recent album, Easy Life, is a concept album about his experiences as a survivor of the shootings at Kent State on May 4, 1970. He will soon be releasing an album in collaboration with the late, legendary saxophonist Ralph Carney called Songs for Unsung Holidays. Of course, the film My Friend Dahmer uses the actual house—your house. Ninety percent said, oh cool, great, it’s a beautiful house, but I was amazed at how some of my college educated friends were truly spooked, and insisted on getting it purged with kosher salt, that sort of thing.
Early life and education
Although other serial murderers had claimed far more victims, Dahmer’s crimes were particularly gruesome, involving cannibalism and necrophilia. In February 1992 Dahmer was sentenced to 15 consecutive life terms; a 16th consecutive life sentence was added in May for the murder he committed in 1978. Dahmer was murdered by a fellow inmate in a Wisconsin prison in 1994. Notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer shocked the world when he was arrested in 1991, as much for the heinous crimes he committed against his victims, as for the fact that he killed 17 men and boys over more than 13 years without capture.
Life
He would later use what his father taught him to dispose of his victims. As he grew, so did his fixation on death, as he began tocollect roadkill for the purpose of dismembering the bodies and storing partsof the animals in jars, keeping them in his family’s shed. When questionedabout his macabre collection, Dahmer would simply reply that he was interestedin how each of the animals “Fitted together”. A while ago I was talking to one of those Murder-abilia types [a collector of serial killer memorabilia], because I was looking for a way to get some charity money. But it just creeped me out, dealing with these people, that someone would covet something like that. Dahmer lived at his grandmother's house, in West Allis, Wisconsin, and killed several of his victims here.
August 1982: Dahmer is arrested
During this period, Dahmer was arrested for an incident at his job at the Ambrosia Chocolate Factory, where he drugged and sexually fondled a 13-year-old boy. For this he was given a sentence of five years’ probation, one year at a work release camp, and was required to register as a sex offender. He was released two months early from the work program and subsequently moved into a Milwaukee apartment in May of 1990.
Konerak, who was 3 years old when his family relocated, was one of three children still living at home at the time of his disappearance. Konerak regularly played soccer at Mitchell Park, and was a freshman at Pulaski High School. Isbell said Lindsey left behind an unborn daughter, Tatiana Banks, who's 31 years old today and a mother herself. "There is no place in a civilized society for anyone who shows no regard for life," said his uncle, Stanley Miller, at the trial.

Alternate plans to convert the site into either a memorial garden, a playground, or to reconstruct new housing have failed to materialize. The 49-unit building was razed in 1992, 15 months after human remains were found in apartment 213. Dahmer's killing spree came to an end on July 22, 1991, when Tracy Edwards managed to escape Dahmer's home and flag down a nearby police car, bringing an end to his 13-year murder spree. In total, he committed twelve of the killings at his North 25th Street Apartment, three at his grandmother's home, one at his parents' home in Ohio, and one at the Ambassador Hotel in Milwaukee.
The nauseating acts committed by Dahmer are the stuff of nightmares and continue to haunt those familiar with the gruesome details of the case. To get a better idea of who he was and how this demented man lived, we’ve got an in-depth look at the new infamous Jeffery Dahmer house. Dahmer picked him up from a bar and took him back to a hotel room, where he woke up the next morning to Tuomi’s beaten dead body. He later stated that he had no memory of actually murdering Tuomi, implying that he had committed the crime on some sort of blacked out impulse. The killings occurred sporadically after Tuomi, with two victims in 1988, one in 1989, and four in 1990.
Dahmer initially pleaded not guilty to all charges, despite having confessed to the killings during police interrogation. His defense then offered the gruesome details of his behavior, as proof that only someone insane could commit such terrible acts. In 1996, real estate magnate Joseph Zilber and his Milwaukee Civic Pride Fund successfully won the right to many of Dahmer's personal belongings, including items that were in the apartment. For years there was talk of turning the site into a play area, a storyline alluded to in the Netflix show, where the dramatized version of Glenda Cleveland pushes for a memorial to Dahmer's victims.
He later exhumed the remains, crushed the bones with a sledgehammer, and scattered them across a wooded ravine. Dahmer was sentenced to 15 life sentences in prison, dying in 1994 when he was murdered by a fellow inmate. But what happened to his apartment where many of his heinous crimes took place, and what is it like now? The three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom property was the perfect setting for a family. However, it was also where Dahmer’s obsession with death truly took hold, when he moved into that house in 1968.
Dahmer’s actual next door neighbor in the building was Pamela Bass. It was Bass who noticed the foul smell coming from Jeffrey’s apartment and heard the strange noises. Bass was on relatively pleasant terms with Dahmer for a time, even accepting a sandwich from him (Dahmer apparently served sandwiches to neighbors occasionally).
During his time in prison, Dahmer expressed remorse for his actions and wished for his own death. He also read the Bible and declared himself a born-again Christian, ready for his final judgment. He was attacked twice by fellow inmates, with the first attempt to slice his neck open leaving him with only superficial wounds.
Woman Visits Jeffrey Dahmer's 'Scary' Childhood Home Where He First Killed
Jeffrey Dahmer’s house, nestled in the quiet Bath Township suburbs of Akron, Ohio, is a place that holds a chilling history. This quaint family home, surrounded by flourishing trees, was once the residence of one of America’s most notorious serial killers. Dahmer, known for his sadistic obsessions, lived in this house for over a decade, during which he committed his first murder. On July 22, 1991, Dahmer lured Tracy Edwards into his home with the promise of cash in exchange for his company. While inside, Edwards was then forced into the bedroom by Dahmer with a butcher knife. During the struggle, Edwards was able to get free and escape out into the streets where he flagged down a police car.
From Dahmer's first arrest to his eventual capture and death, here are the key moments from his 13-year reign of terror. Although it is now just an empty lot, you can still drive past it and look at the empty space where his apartment used to stand. After that incident, Dahmer's dad sent him to live with his grandmother, Catherine Dahmer, in Wisconsin. And like Navis, who called working at the home "pretty spiritual," Heche says "it was like all the ghosts of the house were infused in what we were doing."
Late 20s and early 30s: subsequent murders
But when Hicks decided to leave, Dahmer hit him in the back of the head with a 10 lb. Dahmer then dissected, dissolved, pulverized, and scattered the now imperceptible remains throughout his back yard, and later admitted to killing him simply because he wanted Hicks to stay. A second murder followed in 1987, and during the next five years he killed—mostly in Milwaukee, Wisconsin—another 15 boys and young men, who were for the most part poor and African American, Asian, or Latino.
Two Milwaukee police officers were flagged down by an agitated man with handcuffs attached at one wrist. Tracey Edwards, 32, told the officers a “freak” had placed the handcuffs on him and that he had spent the better part of the evening trying to escape from a nearby apartment where he was being held captive. Dahmer met 20-year-old Matthew Turner in Chicago and persuaded him to travel to Milwaukee for a photo shoot. Once again, Dahmer drugged, strangled and dismembered his victim, keeping the head and internal organs in plastic bags in his freezer. Dahmer brought 14-year-old James Doxtator to the basement of his grandmother’s house after promising him $50 in exchange for posing for nude photos.

According to reports, the 18-year-old Dahmer spotted Hicks hitchhiking to a rock concert. He was lured back to the home, where the teen was said to be staying alone at the time, with the promise of alcohol. "The house was a lot larger than I imagined from the outside and it was pretty set back into the trees. It had a nice landscape and was surrounded by many beautiful homes. The roads were very windy and had lots of hills." Danny Rolling pleaded guilty to the 1990 murders of five students he raped, tortured and mutilated in Gainesville, Florida. Rolling was also found responsible for a 1991 triple homicide in Shreveport, Louisiana, and was executed in 2006.

Angel Maturino Resendez, also known as the Railway Killer, was a drifter from Mexico. During the 1990s, he would rob and kill his victims near railroad tracks on both sides of the border and then hop rail cars to escape. Aileen Wuornos was executed in Florida in 2002 for the murders of seven men whom she had lured by posing as a prostitute or a distressed traveler.
David actuallyreceived his name from his brother (Jeffrey), who was allowed to choose a namefor his younger brother when he was born. After the gruesome discovery at hisolder brother’s home in 1991, however, David Dahmer changed his name started anew life under a new identity. In an interview on Larry King in 2004, however,David’s father and stepmother spoke briefly about their youngest son, statingthat he was happy, had a career, and was about to welcome a second child withhis wife. During the investigation of Dahmer’s home, police found a crudely drawn sketch of a strange sort of shrine Dahmer planned to build in the apartment using the skeletal remains of his victims.
The entire 49-unit complex was dismantled some 15 months after his arrest at the request of the victims’ families. While the interior of Dahmer’s house initially appeared as ordinary as any family home, it held a dark secret beneath its facade. It was within these walls that Dahmer’s disturbing fascination with dissecting bodies took root. Dahmer’s father recalled taking him to the local soda shop as a boy and exploring the nearby fields with the family dog, Fisk.
Dahmer’s apartment was filled with tools that led the authorities to conclude it was a “killing factory,” per The New York Times. Police found ether and chloroform, believed to be used to drug his victims, and a barrel of hydrochloric acid which he used to dissolve the men’s bodies and preserve their skeletons. Inside that 57-gallon barrel, police found three torsos dissolving. A prison guard claimed that shortly after the murders, Scarver, who was believed to be schizophrenic, said “God told me to do it.” In 2015, Scarver spoke to the New York Post about his reasons for killing Dahmer. Scarver alleged that he was disturbed not only by Dahmer’s crimes but by a habit Dahmer had developed of fashioning severed limbs from prison food to antagonize other inmates. Years later, in an interview with CNN, Lionel Dahmer stated that he wrote a letter to the court that issued the sentence, requesting psychological help before his son’s parole.

According to Meaww, Terry and Heather Dubrow sold their Newport Beach, California, mansion for $16.4 million in 2013. Their new digs were magnificently revealed in a 2018 issue of Architectural Digest, being a 22,000-square-foot mansion (on a 44,000-square-foot property) in the oceanside Orange County neighborhood of Crystal Cove. As documented during Heather's "The Real Housewives of Orange County" tenure, the property was built from the ground up.

Although the home was completed around 2015, fans didn't get a full tour until years later, since Heather took a hiatus from RHOC from Season 11 to Season 15. But, when Heather returned in Season 16, she gave BravoTV.com a full tour of the jaw-dropping property, as seen in the video above. The property also features two large bedrooms, luxurious baths, massive walk-in custom closets, a private sauna, two additional private terraces and a separate office with a library. Heather and Terry Dubrow’s New Beverly Hills Mansion
"I am from a little town in Westchester [County], New York, called Chappaqua," Heather shared in her first season on RHOC. "I came down to Orange County kicking and screaming ... I was living in L.A. for quite some time and working as an actress steadily, and I met on a blind date — not a consult — this great guy, plastic surgeon Dr. Terry Dubrow." But those aren't the only real estate wonders in the Dubrows' portfolio. Throughout their relationship, the pair have lived in nearly 20 homes together, according to Architectural Digest, and they've hinted at an interest in potential new vacation properties including a Mexico getaway home and an Idaho property. “A new chateau Dubrow is in the works … Heather [and] Terry Dubrow recently snagged a home in Beverly Hills for $16.1 million … The 9,000 square foot estate sits on 8.2 acres and has incredible views of LA,” they wrote. In another post shared on Instagram, by Housewives Addicted, photos of Heather and Terry’s new mansion were revealed.
Watch the exclusive Bravo Insider video above to see even more of Heather's jaw-dropping home. The two are also the owners of Consult Beaute, which is sold on ShopHQ. The next show will air Sept. 3 for those interested in the range of products.
Meanwhile, Heather is also the creator and host of her own podcast, Heather Dubrow's World. When asked if she knows anyone else with a champagne wall, Heather laughed, "I know people who have it now after seeing it in my house, I'll tell you that." The importance of hydrating also extends to the dining room, which features a wall art installation including 300 bottles of chilled Veuve Clicquot champagne -- which amounts to nearly $12,000 worth of bubbly. At BravoCon in October 2022, Heather surprised viewers by revealing that she and Terry had bought a "love shack" in Los Angeles. Though we have yet to get a full tour of the apartment, Heather has offered tantalizing peeks on her Instagram.
